Pax 3 vs Pax 2

Should you buy the Pax 3 or the Pax 2

This guide will go over the differences and upgrades from the Pax 2 to the Pax 3. Which one is for you? $274.99 vs $199.95? Is the upgrade worth it?

Pax Labs Vaporizers

You probably already know that PaxLabs, makers of the Pax line of vaporizers, aims to be the "Apple" of the vaporizer industry. Not only did the original Pax set the tone for future PaxLabs products it defined the entire portable vaporizer industry. The sturdy and minimalist design pushed vaporizers in front a mainstream audience. Housed in a sleek, discreet and reliable body the original Pax was only to be outdone by it's big brother, the Pax 2 (released last year).

The Pax 2 continued the dedication to quality, design and ease of use. The Pax 2 brought a new wave of first time vapers to the market by doing what they know worked. The Pax 3 is PaxLabs first real shakeup of their marquee vaporizer line. Not to worry, the Pax 3 is everything customers loved in the original and the Pax 2, but it does add concentrate functionality as well as the ability to sync with a Pax smartphone app. Hopefully this guide will give you an idea of what to expect with each unit.

Pax Vapes

Quality

Both units produce high end vapor with easy draw resistance and fast heat up times. That said the Pax 3 heats up in about 15-20 seconds which may be the fastest heat up time of any vaporizer on the market. Compare that with about 50-60 seconds for the Pax 2. The Pax 3 has a slight edge in draw resistance. Both are great but the 3 has a noticeably easier draw path but the 2 isn't far behind in this category.

Design/Features

Aesthetically these units are very similar. The Pax 3 is case in a glossier version of the same style of housing when compared to the matte styles of the original two Pax units. This really comes down to personal preference.

Concentrates - The Pax 3 has the ability to work with concentrates while the Pax 2 does not. Simple enough.

Smart Phone App - The Pax 3 features the Pax App that syncs directly with your vaporizer. The app allows you to control the unit and pick between four different heat settings, each with their own benefit.

Boost Mode - High heat and less cooling for intense sessions.
Efficiency Mode - Intelligently heats the oven for longer battery life.
Stealth Mode - Rapid cooling allows for quick hits and discreet use.
Flavor Mode - This is all about the taste and only heats the chamber when you draw.

Again, the edge here has to go to the Pax 3. Keep in mind the Pax 2 is no slouch and is still considered a high end vaporizer. The 3 is simply the result of PaxLabs listening to their customers and making great tweaks to an already amazing unit.

Price

As of this writing the Pax 3 will retail for $274.99 and the Pax 2 is at $199.95. Do the additions and features above warrant the ~$75 price increase? That's up for you to decide. Again, the main difference is the addition of the ability to use the Pax 3 with concentrate and the App. Both are high end vapes from a high end vaporizer manufacturer. Hard to go wrong with either.
